添置室內植物要考慮的問題 - 光照與擺放位置

Things to consider when adding indoor plants - light and placement

Adding plants to the home can be sidelined? Point to choose plants? When do you shower? Is there enough space? Which plants complement my interior style first? I hope to answer them one by one soon.

I drew a picture today, and I will tell you about the light first! I hope everyone knows what is called "bright scattered light" after watching it ☀️

Everyone wants their plants to look good, and providing the right amount of light is key to maintaining long-term plant health. Light will affect their growth, but if the light is too strong, sometimes it will burn the leaves.

First of all, because we are in the northern hemisphere, generally the windows / balconies facing south can provide the most sunlight (so the south facing buildings are very expensive 😁 )

Important ⚠️⚠️⚠️

southward:

  1. Full sun, the brightest light (some plants need shade in summer)
  2. Suitable for succulents, cacti, flowering plants

west:

  1. Direct afternoon sun (may require shade in summer)
  2. Suitable for most indoor plants (bright diffused light most of the time)

east:

  1. bright light in the morning
  2. Suitable for philodendrons, ferns

Northbound:

  1. Soft diffused light (especially low light intensity in winter)
  2. Indoor Plants for Low Light Tolerance

I hope that everyone can choose the most suitable plants according to their own aspirations. Don’t forget to consider whether there are nearby buildings or big trees for cover!

We have marked the required light intensity reference for each plant, you can refer back to the picture above⚠️⚠️⚠️

| Shade Less than 6 hours of sunlight Diffuse light ( rear / sides of room without direct sunlight )

| Half shade - diffused light from 6 hours of sunshine ( near a window without direct sunlight )

| Semi-sunshine - direct sunlight for 6 hours and above ( near a window with direct sunlight )

| Full sunshine - direct sunlight with 12 hours or more of sunshine ( balcony / outdoor )

* If the indoor light is insufficient, it can be supplemented by plant lighting. (I’ll talk about fill-in light later)
